New stocks in the app 25/01/19
Earlier this week, we started the rollout for US stocks on the app. We kicked off with a few hundred early users to start and everyone’s getting them next week. To celebrate, we’ve added two extra US stocks this week.
At the same time, there’s still plenty of UK-listed stocks to explore. We’ve added a few more trusts and 7 new UK stocks.
Palo Alto Networks
Based out of Santa Clara, California, Palo Alto Networks is one of the world’s biggest cybersecurity firms. Specialising in advanced firewalls, their threat research has detected and blocked multiple notable cyber-attacks.
Take Two Interactive
The company that owns the world’s biggest video game franchise (that’s GTA, not Tetris), Take Two is a huge holding company with multiple game development and publishing subsidiaries. Their other titles include the Bioshock franchise, Civilization, Red Dead Redemption and Borderlands.
This large, well-established trust has a diverse, global investment strategy. They currently hold a US-heavy portfolio with their stakes including tech firms Alphabet, Microsoft and Oracle, tobacco company Philip Morris and multiple healthcare companies.
Bankers Investment Trust
Another international, growth-focused trust with a portfolio currently built around big US companies and a heavy emphasis on tech and financial services. Investments include Berkshire Hathaway, Apple, American Express, Visa and Microsoft.
The 2nd largest construction contractor in the UK, Kier are widely diversified and engage in construction, land development, property management and ancillary services.
John Wood Group is an energy and industrial services firm that provides logistics, maintenance and advisory services to big industrial companies. If you wanted to build an oil rig, they’re who you would call to help you plan and staff it.
You might not know the name, but if you like disinfecting surfaces, you’ll have likely used one of their products. They own Dettol, Vanish and the flamboyant hero of the cleaning spray world, Cillit Bang, as well as brands like Nurofen, Gaviscon and Strepshils.
Speaking of Cillit Bang, remember Barry Scott?
The early 2000s were great.
A spinoff from private equity firm 3i Group, this company invests heavily in infrastructure around the world: the urban, transport, energy and water networks that keep countries ticking.
Barr’s is the producer of Scotland’s iconic soft drink, Irn-Bru, as well as owning popular tropical juice brand, Rubicon.
This Czech antivirus software firm has been listed in the UK and is one of the world’s largest antivirus companies by market share. Aside from the Avast product, they also own AVG — one of the world’s most popular freemium antivirus products.
Aveva’s a leading industrial software company. They design tools and platforms for businesses to manage their industrial and engineering projects.
